Have you created any lists of friends on Facebook? If not, unless you have a fairly small number of friends on Facebook, you are missing out on what many have to say. And even if you spend all day going through your Facebook timeline, it won’t help one bit. Facebook’s algorithm does not show all your friends posts to you.
What can you do. You can’t complain. Facebook is a free service. But you can set up Facebook lists. Go through your Facebook friends and make sure that all those friends that you don’t want to miss anything from, and vice versa, is included in a list. You can make as many lists as you’d like.
How will Facebook lists help you:
1. Facebook lists will not affect your timeline but when you click into a list, you will now see what everyone in the list is saying and doing. So you will no longer miss out on what anyone in your lists has to say.
I also wouldn’t recommend stuffing all your friends into one big giant list so that you can see what everyone is saying in one timeline. Because the lists not only let you see what your friends are saying, but its shows you who they are following and what they are liking and playing (although you can edit this), you might go crazy. Small lists are best.
2. The more you interact with people the more Facebook shows you each other’s posts in your timelines. There might be people that you are friends with that rarely see your posts. Some of them might be influencers that you are hoping to make a better connection with. What are you going to do? If you have them in one of your lists, you will now see what they are saying so you can comment on their posts. They will then see your comments and might like or comment back. That interaction might eventually lead to you each showing up in each other’s Facebook timeline.
Facebook lists are simple to make. Here are Facebook’s directions on creating lists. If you need more help, let me know in the comments.
Facebook doesn’t make things easy for us. Between their algorithm rankings and their privacy policies and their constantly changing everything, its amazing they are still as popular as they are. But free is free and as long as that is where the people are, we just have to learn how to use Facebook the best that we can. The teenagers are leaving in droves. Adults are always a few years behind.
