In February of 2012, I published a Kindle book, The Gamer Generation: Reaping the Benefits of Video Games. Why this topic? Because I was tired of hearing all the complaints about gaming when I had researched and found out that video games had so many amazing benefits. Just take a look at this article on GamingBuff.com (Get Book for FREE with blog subscription at bottom of page).
Parents read the stories about video games being responsible for violence, yet there are just as many studies showing the opposite is true. And did you know that video games have health benefits, physical benefits, social benefits and cognitive benefits?
Video games are also being used with great success in education, from nursery school to adult education. There have been studies that show that people that have played video games growing up are better in business careers. And surgeons that play videos games are faster and more accurate.
Here are some of the quotes that I add to The Gamer Generation: Reaping the Benefits of Video Games:
We don’t stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing – George Bernard Shaw
Video Games are bad for you? That’s what they said about Rock ‘n Roll. – Shigeru Miyamoto
Without this playing with fantasy, no creative work has ever yet come to birth. The debt we owe to the play of the imagination is incalculable. – Carl Jung
The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn. – Herbert Gerjuoy
It is paradoxical that many educators and parents still differentiate between a time for learning and a time for play without seeing the vital connection between them. – Leo F. Buscaglia
